Exposure

The amount of light that reaches the camera sensor.

What is exposure?

Exposure determines how light or dark your image appears. It is controlled by three factors known as the exposure triangle: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. A properly exposed product photo shows accurate colors, visible details in both highlights and shadows, and no blown-out whites or crushed blacks. Overexposure makes images too bright with lost detail in light areas, while underexposure makes images too dark. For product photography, consistent and accurate exposure is critical for showing true product colors.

Pro tips

Use a gray card or color checker to ensure accurate exposure
