Depth of field
The range of distance in a photo that appears acceptably sharp.
What is depth of field?
Depth of field (DoF) describes how much of your image is in focus from front to back. A shallow depth of field means only a small portion is sharp (common in portrait and lifestyle photography), while a deep depth of field means most or all of the image is in focus (preferred for product detail shots). DoF is controlled by aperture, focal length, and distance to subject. Product photographers often use a deep depth of field to ensure every detail of the product is visible and sharp.
