Underexposure

Too little light resulting in dark images with lost shadow detail.

What is underexposure?

Underexposure occurs when insufficient light reaches the sensor, creating images that are too dark with crushed shadows where detail is lost. While mild underexposure can be corrected in post, severe underexposure cannot recover shadow detail and introduces noise when brightened.
