Retouching

Retouching involves detailed editing to clean up product images. This can include removing dust, scratches, fingerprints, and minor product defects; cleaning up backgrounds; smoothing surfaces; enhancing textures; and making the product look its best while remaining accurate. Retouching is standard in professional product photography but should enhance, not misrepresent. Heavy-handed retouching that changes the product appearance can lead to customer disappointment and returns.
